A four-part series created for IN/BREAK, an annual fine art exhibit hosted by Transept, Institute of Theology, Imagination and the Arts (ITIA), St Andrew's College. All works done in graphite pencil, on A4 sketchpaper.
Inspired by a true story about a police officer who served a mentally disabled man and his father in the middle of a parking lot. But who was really serving who, and whose world was interrupted?
Entering the temple.
The Lord Jesus Christ cleansed the temple of Jerusalem when he lived on earth. What will he find when he enters our places of worship today?
There are times when the interruption comes quiet, slow, barely visible, yet certain – like rain developing over faithfully ploughed soil.
[Jesus said] “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (Gospel of John, 3:8)
